The 2025 Karate 1-Series A kicked off in Tbilisi, Georgia, with a spectacular opening day. The first day saw champions crowned in four categories, with electrifying performances setting the tone for the season. The gold medals on day 1 went to Fatemeh Sadeghi Dastak and Mahmoud Nemati, both from Iran, Syota Oshiguchi of Japan and Kyriaki Kydonaki of Greece.
Female Kata: Sadeghi Dastak Shines for Iran
Fatemeh Sadeghi Dastak of Iran claimed victory in the Female Kata final, outscoring Lo Sum Man of Hong Kong, China, by a narrow margin of 41.40 to 41.00. Sadeghi Dastak’s precise movements earned her the top spot in a highly competitive showdown.
Male Kata: Oshiguchi Leads Japan’s Charge
Syota Oshiguchi secured gold in the Male Kata final, edging out compatriot Okamoto Ken in a high-caliber contest. Oshiguchi posted a score of 42.90, just ahead of Okamoto’s 42.30. The duel highlighted Japan's continued dominance in the kata discipline.
Female Kumite 68+ Kg: Kydonaki Claims Victory for Greece
Kyriaki Kydonaki of Greece emerged victorious in the Female Kumite 68+ Kg final, defeating Zeyna Gaballa of Türkiye with a score of 3-1. Kydonaki’s strategic approach gave her the upper hand in a tightly contested bout.
Male Kumite 84+ Kg: Nemati Edges All-Iranian Battle
Iran’s Mahmoud Nemati triumphed in the Male Kumite 84+ Kg category, defeating his countryman Mohsen Safarnejad Molaei Rashti 2-1. The match was a tense affair, with Nemati’s resilience and tactical prowess proving decisive.
