Triumphs and Thrills on Day Two of the Karate 1 Youth League in Venice

The second day of the 2024 Karate 1 Youth League in Venice, Italy, saw young talent shine as champions were crowned in the Junior Female and the last U21 Male categories. With over 4,000 athletes participating, the tournament has cemented its status as the largest youth karate event in the world thus showcasing the tremendous appeal of the sport among youngsters.

Rinze Shinjo Dominates Junior Kata Female

Japan’s Rinze Shinjo delivered a flawless performance in the Junior Kata Female final, defeating France’s Ines Ordonez with a score of 24.80 to 24.30. Shinjo’s precision and power were unmatched, earning her a well-deserved gold.

Agnes Nyman Wins Junior Kumite Female -48 kg

Sweden’s Agnes Nyman triumphed in a tense bout against Ukraine’s Veronika Hudym. With no points scored, the match was decided by Hantei, with the judges favoring Nyman.

Sofiia Liaskalo Takes Junior Kumite Female -59 kg

Sofiia Liaskalo, of the Individual Neutral Athlete, showcased skills to beat Ukraine’s Alona Mudzhuk 2-0. Liaskalo’s sharp techniques secured her victory.

Robin Zwanenburg Edges Junior Kumite Female 66+ kg

Robin Zwanenburg of the Netherlands claimed gold in a nail-biting 1-1 match against Croatia’s Sara Tomic. Zwanenburg emerged victorious based on the first unopposed score.

Emanuele Caponera Clinches Junior Kata Male

Italy’s own Emanuele Caponera thrilled the home crowd by defeating Portugal’s Martim Oliveira 24.90 to 24.40 in the Junior Kata Male final. Caponera’s dynamic performance showcased the artistry and discipline of kata.

Veronika Gashnikova Triumphs in Junior Kumite Female -53 kg

Veronika Gashnikova, of the Individual Neutral Athletes banner, edged Ukraine’s Mariia Hnes 4-3 in the final of Junior Female Kumite -53kg category.  

Chloe Payrot Claims Junior Kumite Female -66 kg

France’s Chloe Payrot emerged victorious against Iran’s Sarina Nouri in a 0-0 bout decided by Hantei. Payrot’s composure earned her the judges' nod.

Gabriele Pezzotti Shines in U21 Kumite Male -84 kg

Italy’s Gabriele Pezzotti brought home gold in a tight 2-1 match against Slovakia’s Simon Seckar. Pezzotti’s swift counterattacks impressed the crowd.

Stefan Stojanovikj Takes U21 Kumite Male 84+ kg

Stefan Stojanovikj of North Macedonia overpowered Ukraine’s Oleksandr Kozyliak 3-1 in the U21 Kumite Male 84+ kg final. Stojanovikj’s decisive combinations took him to the top of the podium.

With champions from across the globe, Day Two in Venice celebrated the spirit of youth karate and set the stage for more action-packed competition ahead.
