Karate Legend Douglas Brose to Run for WADA Athlete Council Elections

The World Karate Federation (WKF) is thrilled to announce the nomination of Douglas Brose, a legendary figure in karate and a three-time World Champion, as its candidate for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Athlete Council elections.

Karate Star Douglas Brose of Brazil is one of the sport's most celebrated athletes. With three World Karate Championships titles and seven continental championships to his name, Brose is a symbol of excellence and dedication. Beyond his impressive achievements in competition, he serves as a member of the WKF Athletes’ Commission, where he actively represents and advocates for the voice of karate athletes worldwide.

“Douglas Brose has not only inspired a generation of karatekas with his skill and values, but he has also been a steadfast advocate for the integrity, fair play, and the many virtues that make sports a pillar of society,” said WKF President Antonio Espinós. “Brose’s accomplishments and character make him the ideal representative for athletes on WADA’s Council.

Douglas Brose said: “Being a member of the WADA Athlete Council is a great responsibility as it allows me to represent the values of karate, such as integrity, respect, and discipline, in the fight against doping. For me, being part of this council means applying the fundamental principles of karate to promote clean sport, thus ensuring that all athletes compete on a level playing field.”

By presenting his candidacy for the WADA Athlete Council, Brose is advocating the sport's and its athletes' interests on a global stage. The WADA Athletes' Council is a Permanent Special Committee within the agency that gives athletes a vital voice in anti-doping policies and their effects on the well-being of athletes.

The WKF calls on all eligible voters to support Douglas Brose in this important election.
