A successful Anti-Doping Education outreach activity was held in Venice-Jesolo, Italy at the 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships in a dynamic showcase of dedication to integrity in sports.
As an ideal platform to engage with young athletes and team officials about the importance of anti-doping, the event was held during the tournament as a result of the partnership of the WKF, NADO Italia (the National Anti-Doping Organisation) and FIJLKAM (Italian Federation of Judo, Wrestling, Karate and Martial Arts).
Athletes, coaches, and team officials had access to educational resources at a dedicated booth in the venue, where they had the opportunity to learn of the significance of anti-doping education through interactive initiatives like WADA’s Play True Quiz. With close to 200 attendees, the event was hailed as a success and a showcase of karate's integrity.
The positive outreach activity underscores the commitment of the WKF to fostering a culture of honesty and respect in Karate, with the close collaboration with National Anti-Doping Organisations, such as NADO Italia playing a crucial role in educating the next generation of athletes.
As the conversation around doping continues, the WKF is committed to continuing to engage in activities and outreach programmes such as the one offered in Venice-Jesolo to further shape a future where clean sport is the norm and not the exception.
