The 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Karate Championships in Venice-Jesolo, Italy, concluded with a thrilling final day of competition. Hosted brilliantly by the Italian Karate Federation, the event crowned new U21 and team world champions in the final day of action.
Japan topped the medal table with 15 medals, including 11 golds, followed closely by Egypt with 15 medals and 6 golds. Host nation Italy finished third with 15 medals and 5 golds, wrapping up a tournament to remember.
U21 Kata Female: Kotomi Sato (Japan)
Kotomi Sato of Japan claimed the U21 Kata Female world title, defeating Spain’s Paola Garcia Lozano with a score of 43.00 to 42.50. Sato’s precision stood out as she secured gold for Japan.
U21 Kata Male: Anthony Vu (Sweden)
Sweden's Anthony Vu emerged victorious in the U21 Kata Male category, beating Roman Hrcka of Slovakia with a score of 42.60 to 41.70. Vu's technical prowess earned him his first world championship title.
U21 Kumite Female -50 kg: Mizuki Ishihara (Japan)
Mizuki Ishihara of Japan outperformed Ema Sgardelli of Croatia with a 5-2 victory in the U21 Kumite Female -50 kg category. Ishihara's strong strategy led her to the top of the podium.
U21 Kumite Female -55 kg: Fatemehzahra Saeidabadi (Iran)

Sophie Bao Bednarski of Sweden took home gold in the U21 Kumite Female 68+ kg division after beating Daria Iushkova of Individual Neutral Athletes with a 7-3 score.

Egypt’s Omar Osman won gold in the U21 Kumite Male -84 kg category, defeating Mohammad Aljafari of Jordan in a close 2-2 match.
U21 Kumite Male 84+ kg: Matteo Avanzini (Italy)
Matteo Avanzini of Italy thrilled the home crowd by winning gold in the U21 Kumite Male 84+ kg category, defeating Anes Bostandzic of Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0.
Kata Team Cadet and Junior Female: Japan
Japan’s Female Kata Team triumphed over Spain with a score of 44.20 to 41.30, showcasing their remarkable synchronization and technical skill to secure another gold for their nation.
Kata Team Cadet and Junior Male: Japan
In the Male Kata Team event, Japan once again topped the podium, defeating Portugal with an impressive score of 44.80 to 42.20, capping off an incredible championship for the Japanese squad.
With the final medals awarded, the 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships came to an exciting close, marking a phenomenal and highly successful edition of the tournament. The event was brilliantly organised by the Italian Karate Federation and marked an era of excellence in Karate events while the global appeal of the sport was highlighted with no less than 1900 athletes from 109 countries competing.
