WKF Athletes Commission Focuses on Athlete Representation at Meeting During 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships

The WKF Athletes Commission held an important meeting today in Venice-Jesolo during the 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Karate Championships. The meeting, chaired by WKF Athletes Commission Chairperson and WKF Executive Committee member Davide Benetello, included the presence of WKF President Antonio Espinós and all commission members.

The agenda focused on reviewing the current situation of athletes within the World Karate Federation and exploring ways to further improve their experience at major events. Discussions centred on increasing athlete representation in decision-making bodies and launching new initiatives to maximize opportunities for athletes both on and off the tatami.

WKF President Antonio Espinós praised the commission’s efforts and said:

"Under the leadership of Davide Benetello, the WKF Athletes Commission has done an outstanding job of supporting and elevating athletes worldwide. Mr Benetello’s dedication, combined with his experience as a former world champion, has helped ensure that our athletes are the best ambassadors of the values of karate."

“Our athletes play an outstanding role in promoting the sport globally, and their involvement in the decision-making processes of our organisation clearly strengthens the federation. The meeting today highlighted the need for ongoing campaigns to empower athletes, including expanding opportunities beyond competition. I am convinced that with the collaboration of hard work of all the commission members, the situation of athletes worldwide will be elevated as never before.”
