Finalists in Junior Categories Decided on Day 2 of 2024 World Karate Championships

The second day of the 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Karate Championships in Venice-Jesolo, Italy, brought intense competition as the finalists in the junior categories were determined. Hosts of Italy gave local fans plenty of reasons to celebrate with four final spots.

 Yasmin Henrique and Takata Azusa Advance to Junior Kata Female Final

Brazil’s Yasmin Henrique earned her place in the final with a score of 40.40, edging out Portugal’s Rita Marques, who scored 39.80. Japan’s Takata Azusa will join her in the final after defeating Julieta Alvarez Fotheringham of Spain 39.70 to 38.70 in another close contest.

 

Izan Lopez Tomas and Soshi Okumura Reache Junior Kata Male Final

Spain’s Izan Lopez Tomas secured a spot in the junior kata male final after defeating Canada’s Matthew Gruitia 40.30 to 39.00. Japan’s Soshi Okumura also advanced with a narrow 40.30 to 39.80 win over Thomas Klemz of France.

 

Italy’s Legittimo Ludovica Stuns in Junior Kumite Female -48 KG

Italy’s Legittimo Ludovica dominated Slovakia’s Veronika Jalowiczorova with a 5-0 victory in the semifinals. She will face Sweden’s Agnes Nyman in the final, after Nyman’s 1-0 win over Latvia’s Jevgenija Konajeva.

 

Alexandra Wolf and Juria Natori Clinch Spots in Junior Kumite Female -53 KG Final

Germany’s Alexandra Wolf was impressive in her semifinal, defeating Italy’s Valentina Marrucci 5-1. Wolf will meet Japan’s Juria Natori, who beat Morocco’s Roumayssae Tarkou 2-0.

 

Monica Arzumian and Gulnur Koishybai Head to Junior Kumite Female -59 KG Final

France’s Monica Arzumian secured a 5-4 win over Azerbaijan’s Gulay Orujova. Arzumian will face Kazakhstan’s Gulnur Koishybai in the final, after Koishybai won 2-1 against Ukraine’s Violetta Makarenko.

 

 Elize Bauld and Mariam Tantawi Dominate in Junior Kumite Female -66 KG

Scotland’s Elize Bauld advanced to the final after an 8-3 victory over Tunisia’s Maysa Ksantini. She will face Egypt’s Mariam Tantawi, who advanced over Morocco’s Jihane Bahajjou 1-1

 

Amalie Hakova and Sara Tomic Advance in Junior Kumite Female 66+ KG

Czech Republic’s Amalie Hakova edged out Egypt’s Malak Elbarbary 3-2 to secure her place in the final. She will meet Croatia’s Sara Tomic, who dominated Jovana Damjanovic of Montenegro 4-0.

 

 Thanakorn Taolek and Hani Rashid Lead in Junior Kumite Male -55 KG

Thailand’s Thanakorn Taolek booked his final spot with a 6-3 win over Mexico’s Daniel Alejandro Cruz Romero. He will face Hani Rashid of Jordan, who won 2-0 against Kazakhstan’s Abdikadyr Miras.

 

 Emanuele Califano of Italy Heads to Junior Kumite Male -61 KG Final

Italy’s Emanuele Califano put on a show with a 7-1 victory over Iran’s Abolfazl Hamdamjoo. He will face Saudi Arabia’s Saad Alsaif, who advanced with a 2-2 victory over Yasin Bettache of France.

 

 Alvise Toniolo Reaches Third Final for Italy in Junior Kumite Male -68 KG

Egypt’s Mohamed Ashraf Mohamed earned his place in the final after defeating Germany’s Roman Raiswich 4-0. He will face Italy’s Alvise Toniolo, who won a thrilling 6-5 match against France’s Hairiss Hierso.

 

 Sven Strahija and Alikhan Kadyrgali Impress in Junior Kumite Male -76 KG

Croatia’s Sven Strahija reached the final after beating France’s Yacine Ben Fathallah 3-3. Strahija advanced   and will face Kazakhstan’s Alikhan Kadyrgali, who beat Spain’s Iker Leal Moreno 5-2.

 

 Federico Supino of Italy Advances in Junior Kumite Male 76+ KG

Italy’s Federico Supino edged out Alexander Davies of Luxembourg 4-3 to advance to the final. He will meet Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Alqahtani, who progressed over Japan’s Toji Miki 5-5.

 

Day 2 showcased the exceptional talent of karate’s future stars, setting the stage for thrilling finals ahead. The competition continues in Venice-Jesolo with the eliminations in cadet categories.

 

The tournament finals on Saturday and Sunday will be available LIVE on the WKF YouTube channel.
