WKF Training Camp Kicks Off in Porec

The city of Porec, Croatia has become the epicentre of youth karate as the WKF Training Camp opens its doors to thousands of young karatekas from around the globe. This year, the event has set a new record with over 4,000 participants from 85 countries, making it the largest youth karate gathering of the year thus far.

The camp commenced with an opening ceremony led by the President of the Croatian Karate Union and WKF Assistant General Secretary Davor Cipek. Also present was WKF Executive Committee member and WKF Athletes’ Commission chairman Davide Benetello, who joined in welcoming the young athletes to this prestigious event.

The youth camp offers an unparalleled opportunity for young karatekas to train with some of the sport’s most renowned figures. This year’s roster of instructors is particularly impressive, featuring a line-up of champions and Olympic medallists who will share their expertise and passion for karate.

Leading the group is Andjelo Kvesic, a two-time continental champion and local hero from Croatia. Joining him is Luigi Busa of Italy, an Olympic Games gold medallist, five-time continental champion, and 2012 World Champion. Anzhelika Terliuga of Ukraine brings her wealth of experience as an Olympic Games silver medallist and three-time continental champion, while Damian Quintero of Spain, a silver medallist at the Olympic Games, seven-time continental champion, and four-time world championships runner-up, also graces the camp with his presence.  Rounding out the stellar line-up is Ali Sofuoglu from Turkiye, the current world champion, three-time continental champion, and Olympic Games bronze medallist.

Croatian Karate Union President and WKF Assistant General Secretary Davor Cipek opened the Camp with WKF Executive Committee member Davide Benetello and this year's instructors in attendance.
