Second Day of #Karate1Larnaca Unveils Intense Battles and Surprising Results

The second day of the 2024 Karate 1 Series A in Larnaca (Cyprus) saw intense action as the elimination rounds for the remaining categories took centre stage. The finals are slated for Sunday and will be available live on the WKF YouTube channel.

In the Male Kata division, spectators witnessed a display of skill and precision as Ryusei Ikeda of Japan emerged as a finalist alongside compatriot Yasuhiro Machida, thus setting the stage for an All-Japan final. Ikeda secured his place in the final by defeating Rey Chinen of the United States with a score of 42.00 to 41.30, while Machida edged past Yuki Sato of Japan with a score of 41.10 to 40.50.

 

The Female Team Kata final promises an exciting showdown between Spain and Brazil. Spain clinched their spot in the final by defeating Portugal with a score of 41.60 to 39.80, while Brazil secured their place with a victory over Uzbekistan with a score of 38.90 to 38.00.

 

In the Male Kumite -60kg category, Juan David Forero of Colombia will face off against Mert Halici of Turkiye in the final. Forero secured his place with a decisive victory over Omar Shaqrah of Jordan with a score of 2-0, while Halici defeated Mekhriddin Turakhonov of Uzbekistan with a score of 5-1.

 

The Male Kumite -67kg final will feature Nuran Rzazade of Azerbaijan taking on Vinicius Figueira of Brazil. Rzazade earned his spot in the final by defeating David Yanovskyi of Ukraine with a narrow score of 1-0, while Figueira secured his place with a 3-1 victory over Matej Homola of Slovakia.

 

In the Female Kumite -50kg division, Eva Rodriguez of Spain will compete against Shamalarani Chandran of Malaysia in the final. Rodriguez secured her place in the final with a close victory over Hsin-Yu Chan of Chinese Taipei with a score of 1-0, while Chandran emerged victorious against Barbara Michelle Morales of Guatemala with a score of 3-2.

 

The Female Kumite -61kg final will see Indira del Mar Zuñiga of Spain facing off against Darya Yervacheva of Ukraine. Zuñiga secured her place in the final after a closely contested match against Fumika Yamamoto of Japan, ending 2-2, while Yervacheva defeated Lejla Topalovic of Austria with a score of 4-2.

 

In the Female Kumite -55kg final, Rina Kodo of Japan will take on Mirna Attia of Egypt. Kodo secured her place in the final by defeating Taravat Kahksar of Iran with a score of 10-5, while Attia emerged victorious against Mia Bitsch of Germany with a score of 11-8.

 

As the competition heats up, anticipation builds for the championship matches set to unfold on Sunday.
