World Championships Senior
The fourth day of the competition the World Karate Championships put the Team Kumite competition in the spotlight. Surprises took over the competition since newcomers Egypt and Jordan, in Male divisions, and Spain and Japan, in Female categories will fight for gold.
The Male Team Kumite category had a surprising outcome with Jordan and Egypt qualifying for the final for the first time. The Egyptian side used the performance of finalists Abdallah Abdelaziz and Youssef Badawy to reach their first final following a 3-1 victory over France.
Jordan also reached the final of the category for the first time. The Jordanian squad defeated Azerbaijan 3-0 and will try to complete an impressive performance in Budapest.
The bronze medal bouts are as follows:
Kazakhstan – France
Italy – Azerbaijan
SPAIN AND JAPAN IN FEMALE TEAM KUMITE
The final of Female Team Kumite will have also new names fighting for gold since Spain and Japan will clash for the title.
The Japanese side goes back to a final of the category after taking silver in the World Championships in 2018. The representatives of the birth nation of the sport aim to recover the crown they last won in 2006.
Japan reached the final after defeating Kazakhstan 7-5 in a hard-fought semi-final.
Meanwhile, Spain returns to a final after seven years of absence. The six-time World Championships runner-up will try to regain the World crown that they won twice, in 1994 and 2002, thus putting an end to an absence from the top of the podium of 21 years.
Headed by World champion and finalist in individual competition Maria Torres, the Spaniards defeated Croatia in the semifinals 2-0.
The last time that Japan and Spain met in a final of Female Team Kumite was in 2006 when the two sides clashed for gold at the event in Tampere. The Japanese side claimed gold then.

Hungary- Croatia
The fourth day of competition also had the Para-Karate competition taking the stage. The bronze medal bouts were held on Friday, with powerhouse nations of the sport claiming the awards.
The bronze medal in Blind/Visually Impaired K10 Female and Male went to Benedetta Beloti of Italy, Marwa Hasany of Egypt, Jose Roberto Gonzalez of Mexico, and Alexe Dorin of Romania.
Meanwhile, in Intellectually Impaired K21 the bronzes went to Elise Reedjik of The Netherlands, Federica Yakymashko of Italy, Antonio Pereira of Portugal, and Moustafa Hassan of Egypt, and in K22 the bronze medallists were Natalia Olson of Canada, Daniela Topic of Croatia, Hazem Elsabbagh of Egypt, Joao Estrela Azevedo of Portugal.
In the last category of the day, the bronzes of Wheelchair user K30 were claimed by Nesrin Cavadzade of Turkiye, Virginie Boyer of France, Vidadi Khaligov of Azerbaijan, and Eldar Ahmadov of Azerbaijan.
