WKF Athletes Commission chairman participates in IOC's International Athletes Forum 2023

WKF Athletes Commission chairman and WKF Executive Committee member Davide Benetello participated in the 2023 edition of the IOC’s International Athletes Forum.
Held in Lausanne (Switzerland) at the IOC’s headquarters, the event gathered 400 athletes’ representatives to discuss the most important issues for athletes across the Olympic Movement.
Among the initiatives discussed at the Forum, the “Road to Paris” Pilot Project regarding sporting good brands and sponsored athletes, Social Media Guidelines for athletes at the Games, administrative support to Athletes’ Commissions, the involvement of Athletes’ Commission members in Safe Sport initiatives, and ways to support athletes in terms of financing, mental health, and career opportunities were analysed.
WKF Athletes Commission chairman Davide Benetello said:
“I participated in four intense days of meetings and workshops as a member of the Athletes’ Declaration Steering Committee and as the Athletes’ Representative of the World Karate Federation at the IOC’s Athletes’ Forum. Whenever I come to these gatherings, I fully understand the immensity of the global sports movement, and I am confronted with other realities that until now, were little known. At these meetings, the base for general growth is established. I am pleased to be able to create future links with motivated people for the benefit of the sports movement, and I can assure you that Karate finds a very respectable place in this movement.”
WKF President Antonio Espinós said:
“The athletes’ wellbeing and prospects have always been a priority for the WKF, even more so since Mr Davide Benetello took over our Athletes’ Commission. My gratitude goes to Mr Benetello for representing our sport so brilliantly at the Forum and at the Steering Committee, and for being a champion of the athletes’ ambitions in our sport.”
